She & Him

Today I'm talking about folk indie duo She & Him.

"She & Him make music for an eternal springtime, when the temperature is warm enough to go riding with the top (or at least the windows) rolled down and the radio turned up. They occupy an alternate universe where the saddest of songs feel as warm as sun showers; the rain may be coming down, but somewhere nearby, everything looks bright."

That's their claim to fame and every word is true. I love listening to them while driving down the road on a sunny day, while I'm in that oh so perfect mood, and also on those dreary days that you wish for even a drop of sun.

She & Him have two albums out and will be putting out a Christmas Album later this year.

Here's one of my favorite songs from their first albums.

And here's one from my second.

If you have an indie bone in your body this group is for you. Their simple and sweet sound reaches even the most melancholic of souls and makes everything right.

Update - Or, Where the Hell Have I Been?

I haven't posted here in forever! I have a good reason though. I promise. I've had to do two factory resets on my laptop in three days. I'm having major issues and I'm too stubborn to go pay for someone to fix it. I've spent most of this morning transfering all my files (again) to my 2TB external and I plan on keeping them there for a while. I'm currently waiting for my laptop to turn on so I'm using my time to make jam. More on that later. So wish me luck and hopefully I'll be back here soon.

Tea Will Rock You!

So Emilie Autumn is holding a challenge for all of us fans so I just had to participate.

"Ok, PRs, here's the #asylumcellnumber challenge: Use this demo for reference. Just recorded it singing into my laptop mic and bashing teacups on the table for the drums. Seriously. Fact. What you do to get an Official Asylum Cell Number: VIDEO yourself singing TEA WILL ROCK YOU and post on YouTube. Send the link to Make it awesome. Receive an #asylumcellnumber. Go forth and rock. Tea-style. (If you already have a cell number, do this anyway and get extra biscuits.)"

So here's what I came up with.

Lolita Wednesday: New Swag

Recently I did a bit of shopping and I got some new cute things. I'll do an outfit post in the near future.

First, I traded a pair of BTSSB shoes for this lovely skirt set.

I love the colors because they're perfect for summer and so is the print!

Then I decided to buy this Angelic Pretty Cutsew.

And FINALLY, my new dream dress.
BTSSB Paris Windows

The Joys of Vacationing

So what's my favorite part about vacations? Being able to relax without any care in the world? Being able to go to the beach and actually be able to get in the water? Or is it the fact that everywhere I looked everything was so damn gorgeous?

Really, it's all of these things and the fact that I got to escape home for just a little while and I got to see my amazing cousins for the first time in years.

I got caught up on season 5 of Doctor Who and decided that I like the 10th doctor better than the 11th, I listened to Kai Altair, Morrissey, and Voltaire as bedtime music. I downloaded a couple blogging apps for my iPad and I completely ignored this blog.
I baked cake and scones with my cousins and learned that you should just bake with real sugar. Leave the splenda out of it. (I already kind of knew that but it was all they really had.) I ate lots of good food and enjoyed most of it. (I even tried the Puka Dogs. I'm not a hot dog person either.)

I visited a really nice hotel and I took lots of pictures. And of course, I got a sunburn after only a couple hours at the beach.

All in all, I had a really good 10 days. Even the fact that my flight home left late which made me miss my connecting flight didn't bother me that much. Probably because I got bumped to business class.

So for those of you who didn't know, I've been on vacation and just too damn lazy to post! I've BARELY touched my laptop actually. Impossible you say?! Well its hard to focus on the interwebs when you go to the window and look at this.

I'll be doing a post about my trip and then its back to your regularly scheduled bloggyness.

That is all.

Video Spotlight: Roll a D6

So if you know me, you know that I love parody's of songs. You also know that I'm a huge gamer nerd. So what could be better than a parody of a popular song that also happens to be about D&D!?

This is where I introduce "Like a D6." If you have a radio and you listen to "popular" channels, I'm sure you've heard the original "Like a G6." I actually have only heard little snippets because really? I don't give a damn. But seriously, this song is awesome.

Purr by Katy Perry

So I'll admit it. Katy Perry is one of my guilty pleasures. I also love perfume. So when I heard she would be releasing her own I was overly excited.

" Purr by Katy Perry eau de parfum begins with the aroma of peach nectar and forbidden apple, evolves with a distinct floral bouquet of jasmine blossom, Bulgarian rose and vanilla orchid, and slowly reveals accents of creamy sandalwood and musk. Like the singer herself, Purr is playful yet sophisticated. Katy Perry transcends barriers with her music—so does her new fragrance."

When I read the description, I knew it would be perfect for me. Vanilla, Rose, Orchid and Jasmine are some of my absolute favorite scents for a perfume. So I bought the 1.7 ounce bottle. And the bottle is absolutely perfect as well. Its purple and silver and has a giant kitty head with faux diamond eyes and a collar with a heart shaped charm attached. I think I was almost more excited for the bottle than I was for the perfume.

From the bottle, you can mostly smell the Orchid and the Jasmine. Sprayed on skin without waiting for it to settle, the vanilla and the fruits start to emerge. Then after a few minutes, everything finally appears in perfect harmony.

I'll definitely be buying this again and when it gets discontinued I'll probably attempt to buy out the store.

Summer Inspiration

Since Summer Solstice is fast approaching, I thought I'd do a quick mash up of fun summer ideas for the Lolita in everyone.

Pick wildflowers and put them near your bedroom mirror.

Use lots of local seasonal fruit! Bake! Eat them fresh! Even make your own smoothies.

Paint your nails fun bright colors, even when you're trapped inside all day, you'll still feel bright.

Get some fairy lights and string inspirational photos, notes to yourself, and memories like movie tickets and string them above your headboard.

Make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen, no one looks good with bright red skin!

Finding New Music

This is something I gave a hard time with quite often. This post is as much for me in the future as much as it is for all of you.

So I'm sure you all know about Shazam now. I believe that most smart phones come with it as a default app. Basically, when you hear a song you like you start the app and it tags the song telling you the artist, song name, album, etc. You can also buy the song directly from the app.

Just like iTunes Genius, it tells you what you aren't listening to that you should be based on what you ARE listening to.

Now, this one I really liked. Its not as fancy as other sites, but it does the job well. You enter three artists you like and it gives you one suggestion based on those. You can then either click on "I like it" if you've already heard of this artist, "I don't like it" if you happen to hate them, or "I don't know it." These three options all lead to the same destination: Another suggestion.

Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Ruby Star

The Promise: Long wearing, moisturizing, highly pigmented lip color.

The Reality: This lipstick has quickly become my new favorite. It really does live up to what it promises. It is indeed highly pigmented, it lasts several hours, even when I eat or drink while wearing it, and it pretty much eliminated my habit of putting on chapstick before I put my lipstick on. As far as smell goes, its pretty unobtrusive and it isn't particularly bad. I've had terrible smelling lipsticks before, and also ones that smelled fantastic. This one falls somewhere in between.

It is priced fairly decently, under $8 and I think it is definitely worth the price. I will definitely be buying it again and would recommend it if asked.

Throw it in the Bag!

So those of you on EGL will probably have already seen this brilliant little gem.

The lovely Australian Lolita's made a hip-hop rap video full of burando goodness. Its hilarious and painfully stereotypical but its too much fun not to watch it.

Artist Spotlight: Kai Altair

Just a quick one tonight.

Meet Kai Altair. Bellydancing Mermaid Music Goddess.

I've kept hearing about her for the past couple years, but I finally got into her just this week.
Kai's voice is really the driving force behind her music. If I imagined a mermaid singing, it would be her voice that came from the lips. The music is simple, but that's what makes it so relaxing.
She's the perfect artist to listen to as background music, to fall asleep to, or just to listen to when you need to relax.

So, I'll leave you with this.

Review: Rimmel Glam'Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara

So I'm guilty of using two different mascaras. I usually use Maybelline Lash Stiletto on my lower lashes, and Maybelline Colossal Volume Express on my upper lashes. I love having thick upper lashes and super long lower lashes. Well I was almost out of both of them which prompted a visit to the drug store. I had my usual two in my hand and was headed for the counter as my eyes fell on a lovely display of a tiny pink and black bottle.

The Promise: One bottle, two different looks.

The Reality: It actually works!

So lets break it down really quick.  The bottle has two caps and one brush. The Volume brush is the black cap and lets plenty of mascara cover the brush. For length you unscrew the pink cap and pull it through the black cap which prevents a great deal of mascara from coating the brush. So far, I haven't had any smudging or running, and the mascara seems to last the whole day.

As far as the negatives, it seems that MAC put out an identical concept a few months ago, and it doesn't build on itself very well (I'd say two coats tops.)
Quality: 4/5 Could layer better but lasts a long time
Concept: 3/5 Its brilliant, but MAC did it first
Price: 5/5 Its the same price as one of the two different mascaras I usually use and about $9 cheaper than the MAC version
Overall:  4/5

Final vote? I definitely will buy again and would recommend it.

Quick Review: New Lady Gaga Album

So on May 23 the new Lady Gaga album came out. I immediately went and purchased the Special Edition. Before you say anything, yes I like Lady Gaga. Get over it.

The tracklist is as follows:

1. Marry The Night
2. Born This Way
3. Government Hooker
4. Judas
5. Americano
6. Hair
7. Scheiße
8. Bloody Mary
9. Black Jesus ✝ Amen Fashion
10. Bad Kids
11. Fashion Of His Love
12. Highway Unicorn (Road To Love)
13. Heavy Metal Lover
14. Electric Chapel
15. The Queen
16. Yoü And I
17. Edge of Glory
1. Born This Way (Country Road Version)
2. Judas (DJ White Shadow Remix)
3. Marry The Night (Fernando Garibay Remix)
4. Scheiße (DJ White Shadow Mugler Remix)
5. Fashion Of His Love (Fernando Garibay Remix)

So what did I think? Well, since its Gaga I expected more than a few WTF moments and I wasn't disappointed. The first came with Government Hooker. I don't always to expect to understand what I'm listening to, but I can usually tolerate it. So why is this a WTF? It just doesn't work in my head. I don't like the electronics and I don't like the intro. Who knows, maybe its a fantastic song, but for me I don't understand.

Surprisingly, Government Hooker was my only real WTF. There were a few songs that were just alright, such as Americano, Black Jesus, Bad Kids, and Heavy Metal Lover. The remixes were pretty weak as well.

Now as for the songs I loved? Obviously Born This Way is one of my favorites, as well as Hair, Bloody Mary and Judas. I also loved Electric Chapel, You and I, and Edge of Glory.

So over all, it was a good album with very few serious blunders and more than enough fantastic tracks.

Alice's Teacup. Review and Giveaway!

So for this Friday's review, I'm going to be talking about one of my new favorite cookbooks.

These are seriously some of the best scones and cakes I've ever tasted. But is it really just scones and cakes? Of course not!

Alice's Tea Cup is divided into the following chapters:
Afternoon Tea, Before and After Noon: Scones
Breakfast and Brunch
Soups and Salads
Cakes and Cupcakes
Other Sweets and Treats for the Alice in All of Us
The Basics of Brewing Tea
The Art of the Tea Party
Menu Pairings
Tea-Dying Linens

I absolutely didn't know where to start. So I randomly opened to a page and made the recipe in front of me. Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. It was a basic cake recipe but it has to be one of the best vanilla cakes I've ever tasted, much less made. Thrilled with the results I moved on to a new recipe, this time I decided to make the Bacon Cheddar scones. Again, absolutely fantastic. The Linzer cookie recipe? Fantastic.
Most of the sandwiches are very classic, such as the BLT, the Ruben, and the Tuna Salad sandwich. There is also a great burger recipe (And a Veggie Burger too!) a Curried Chicken sandwich, and my new favorite, the Mate Carnival Egg Salad sandwich. Tea soaked eggs and lots of herbs and greens means you have the best ever egg sandwich.

I have yet to venture into the salads and soups this book offers, and the breakfasts. So what am I trying next? Alice's Curious French Toast Bread Pudding: fresh fruit, egg pudding, and powdered sugar.
Green Goddess soup, because what's better than a soup full of healthy greens?
And finally the Steak Salad with apples herbs, and more of those wonderful tea soaked eggs.

So now if you recall, I may have said something about a giveaway.

To enter, simply subscribe to my blog and leave a comment with your email address. I'll randomly choose a number and whatever number that may be will be the winner.

The prize? Your very own copy of Alice's Teacup!

Adding Variey with what you Already Have.

So this is the first post of the TPT restructure. Since Lolita is expensive it is a good idea to know how to have variety in what you wear using basic items you already have. We're going to look at two different JSK's and see what we can do with them.

First, we're going to do a plain JSK because they are just as great as prints. This sax JSK comes from BTSSB. It has a perfect feel for summer. Instead of a blouse I chose to use a pretty cutsew since its closer to summer. The shoes are by Angelic Pretty. Everything else is offbrand and under $60.

Shoes: Angelic Pretty
Plastic Hairbow: Chocomint

Now for this second one, I'm going to use a print that I absolutely adore by Angelic Pretty. Everything else is offbrand and under $50 (With the exception of the glasses).

JSK: Angelic Pretty

Well, hope I gave you some ideas and I personally can't wait to make more of these!

Changes are Coming!

So. I've been having a hard time updating. As though you haven't noticed....
Well what does this mean?

Yep, you heard right dear readers, Tiny Pink Teacups is getting organized. I'm bringing everything I want this blog to be and I'm making it happen. I like having a schedule of when I'm posting what, so that means that I'm going to be posting a grand total of 4 times a week. Here's a peek at what I plan on doing.

Mondays, I'll be posting about either a musician, band, or a music related something or other.
Wednesdays will be devoted to something having to do with Lolita fashion. It might be something like my Top 8 Prints post, it might be about a particular item or outfit, or it might even be a how to.

Friday will be all about product reviews. I really enjoyed doing the Argan Oil review so I'm looking forward to doing more of those.

And finally, Saturday will be a freebie day. I'm going to post whatever the Hell I want to and you're going to like it damnit!

Product Review: Organix Renewing Argan Penetrating Hair Oil

Meet my new best friend.

This is Argan Oil. I first heard about it in a damaged hair topic on the Emilie Autumn forum. It claims to penetrate the hair shaft (Oh, that just sounds dirty) and to immediately rehydrate and repair the elasticity of your hair.

I'll admit I was a bit skeptical, as I usually find anything that claims immediate results tends to be a bust. I however was shocked. For those of you know me, you know that I blowdry and straighten my hair daily, and have been going blonder the past few months which means that I've been dying my hair almost every month and a half. Talk about damage. After this last time that I dyed my hair I noticed something that kind of made me freak out. When I was combing my hair the back was VERY elastic. It broke when tugged on by the comb. It was just bad. So I started deep conditioning weekly and that sort of worked. I stopped after a few weeks and then the problem returned. So after I read about it, I went to the store and forked over my 6 dollars for a bottle.

So onto the review.

Product: Organix Renewing Argan Penetrating Hair Oil

Quality: 5/5

The results for the amount used is really shocking. I probably only used a quarter teaspoon for my hair which falls just below my collarbone. The results as I said, are almost instant. I've only been using it two days and my hair feels like it did before I started dying it. The oil is not heavy and it doesn't make my hair look greasy.

Ease of Use: 5/5

The directions are pretty straight forward. Put a small amount in the palm of your hand and spread throughout your damp hair from root to tip.

Nicely sized and shaped to fit to your hand. Its a little wordy, but the important words are bolded.

So I guess the question is would I buy it again? Definitely! Over and over and over again. I would recommend it to my friends, and anyone who has problems with their hair.

On Becoming Part of the Universe

There have been times throughout the course of this blog that I've asked myself what the hell I was thinking when I started it. Usually it goes along the lines of "I've got nothing to talk about." Or "No one cares what I have to say."
Why am I writing this all down on the internet where anyone can come and read it? If most of what I post is so personal then shouldn't I be keeping it in a journal that I can bind shut and hide so no one can see it?
It all comes down to two things: The fact that I don't really give a flying fuck about who reads this blog because deep down I know that I'm writing it for me. And because its like when you write a letter you never intend to give to the person you wrote it to and then send it out on the ocean in a bottle or set it on fire and watch the flames slowly float away as smoke. Its because knowing that its out there just being part of the universe is better than keeping it where only you know where it is.
And really, life is such a fickle thing. Compared to the universe and time itself we're just little specks of sand. We really don't matter in the long run. I believe that by connecting ourselves with the universe in whatever small way we can, we begin to matter even if its just for a moment.
And here you thought I was done. Right? Well almost. Tonight was the first night since the whole thing with my parents started that I've allowed myself to have an actual human emotion for more than two seconds. And what an adventure that was. Tonight was the first time I've cried since it began. I felt, no I feel, angry. I feel scared. I feel devastated. I have feelings that I don't even know what the hell they are. And strangely I think I'm at peace with all of it. I don't know why but I feel light.
I feel like I could float.

How do I save you from the mess you're in

Yesterday was terrible.

My dad decided to come home, pack, and have my mom drive him to the airport today so he could go visit his sister in Houston. Great. Glad that you're gone.

I woke up at 8:30 and everything was going fine. I called T-Mobile because the online account had us locked out. I found out that even though we'd left voicemails for my dad to stop using his phone because we were out of minutes (Wonder who's fault that was?)he had already incurred $38.70 in overage charges. So what do I do? I suspend his phone. So after that everything was fine through school and whatnot, but on the way home, I got a message saying his line had been restored. It seems he went to a store and had them do it for him. I called and had it suspended again and put a password to restore it. I put it out of my mind and started learning "Save You" by Emilie Autumn on my guitar. I even youtube'd a clip of the chorus.

Its really a terrible webcam recording, so excuse the quality.

After a couple hours of working on it, I got a call from a strange number. I picked up because I figured dad was calling from a payphone or something. I was half right. He was calling from his new cell phone. Long story short, I told him if he came home me and mom would leave him alone. So he got home, he packed, he ate, and went to bed.

They left at about 7:30 this morning and so far I've heard nothing which means everything is going fine. As usual, it will be nice to have him gone for a while. Its just peaceful when its me and mom.

Don't Want to Care

Have you ever looked so hard for peace that you can never find it? Have you ever tried not to feel any emotions when something equivalent to a brick wall is slammed in your face? Welcome to the current story of my life. So these family problems I've been not talking about for the past few blogs have really taken a turn for the worse. I think over the last two months I've spent a total of two minutes crying. Actually having a human emotion. I cried for about three and a half seconds just a few minutes ago while my mom was on the phone with a neighbor. I immediately realized that I was in fact being human and quickly pulled the tears back in.

In the past week I've written three songs. That's three more than I've written since last year. I guess music is only written in sadness. (Though one of them is about the boyfriend, so I suppose that one was written out of longing, or happiness, or one of those other non depressed things you humans feel.) I've rediscovered my love of guitar and I am going to start playing piano again.

So this morning on the way to school, I was talking to Ben. He's been nothing but amazing through this whole thing. I seriously couldn't ask for someone to be a better listener than he has. I saw him this weekend as well which took my mind off of everything. Nine wonderful hours spent together on Saturday led to a rough morning at home for my parents on Sunday. Me and my mom left around noon so I was sure I wasn't going to see Ben that day. By the time we got home just before seven I was planning on seeing him. Until I went to the computer room to clean up a mess that one of the dogs left. That's when I saw that my dad's computer was gone. Further exploration revealed that he also had taken some of his clothes and medicine. Surprisingly, I felt peaceful. I felt like everything was going to be okay, even if it was just for a moment.

To be honest, I really don't care where he is. I'm just glad he's still gone. I don't know if I want him to come back.

(Little known fact. The title of this post comes from the song "Better" by Plumb.)

Look Who's Back

So after a rather extended hiatus, I've returned. I'm back in school and I've been slightly nurturing my social life more than I have been. This past week has been crazy as usual. Aside from everything going on at home (which I will eventually talk about, I promise), I've been trying to get back into the school mindset. Taking notes, paying attention in class, preparing for tests. I'm taking my first lab class since highschool and I'm actually surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. My other two are both essentially online classes which is nice as I only have to go to one class and its only 4 times a week.
The kittens are making wonderful progress. We discovered that Harry was really a girl so we quickly renamed her Morgana. She and her brother Merlin have started to show predatory instinct. Morgana favors a piece of string hanging from the towel rack and Merlin prefers Pandora's mouse that's stuffed with catnip. And speaking of Pandora, she has finally learned how to play with her new siblings gently and she appears to really like them.
Now as far as movies go, I spent the weekend rewatching the first 6 Harry Potter movies. I forgot how wonderful they are and I also forgot how much they leave out! I'm having a hard time waiting for the new one to come out on DVD. I just can't wait. Especially since its supposed to have a preview of the first scene of the final movie. I also finally saw Sucker Punch with my good old friend John who's home on leave from the Navy. I have one thing to say about it. Holy plot twist Batman! Now I'm not going to spoil it for those of you who haven't seen it, but for those of you who have, I definitely did not see that coming.
Anyways, I have a class to get to. I promise I'll be back soon.

Playing Catch-up

Day 26 - Best voice acting.

Wow. This was HARD. Also, yes, I know no one agrees with me. I never have the volume on when I game. I always have tv shows or movies running on a separate screen. That said, the voices in WoW aren't that bad. I usually watch the cutscenes since Blizzard doesn't add subtitles. But basically I'm retarded on this subject so I shouldn't have an opinion.

Day 27 - Most epic scene ever.

Seriously? This must just not be my day. I rarely watch cutscenes. I don't have a favorite. Hell, I barely remember them the next day.

Day 28 - Favorite game developer.

I have to say Rockstar mainly because of Red Dead Redemption and because of my excitement for L.A. Noire (which I preordered yesterday!)

Day 29 - A game you thought you wouldn’t like, but ended up loving.

Hm.... I guess this one was a hard one as well.  I can think of  a bunch of games I thought I would love but ended up hating. I usually research the hell out of games before buying them. I guess my answer would have to be the Resident Evil games. When I first started playing them, I didn't like shooting things. I wasn't that fond of zombies. That all changed rather suddenly.

Game Update

Day 22 - A game sequel which disappointed you.

Seriously. What. The. FUCK?! Okay, so you have pretty costumes. And you have pretty girls. Past that? YOU HAVE NOTHING! I couldn't get into it. At all. The game was just flat out boring.

Day 23 - Game you think had the best graphics or art style.

So I've only played this game a few times, but let me tell you, its damn pretty. Especially for an open source game. The scenery is fantastic and I just enjoyed it. There isn't really much more to it.

Day 24 - Favorite classic game.

Hours of my childhood were spent playing this game. Collecting fruit and running from ghosts is pretty damn fun when you're 8.

Day 25 - A game you plan on playing.

I love open world games. I love the 40's. I love murder mysteries. So why wouldn't I play this game? I really like the fact that the LA map is based on actual maps of the city from 1947. Also, they used 32 cameras to record actors facial expressions from every possible angle. I'm excited that the game is pretty much based off of post war films. Also the soundtrack sounds like its going to be amazing based off of trailers. So this game seems like it has everything going for it. I can't wait.

Top 8 Lolita Dream Prints

So when you've been into any fashion for a decent amount of time, you start to develop all kinds of lists. Favorite styles, dislikes, favorite brands, etc. Well I've finally narrowed my list of dream prints to a measly 10! So in no particular order, here we go!

Alice and the Pirates - Queen's Coach OP - Pink

I don't normally like really frilly high necked dresses but I have to make an exception here. The overdress style tugs on me as does the long bell sleeves. The print is very reminiscent of the Rococo era and the entire thing just exudes elegance.

Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Alice Portrait - Sax

The gold has a nice effect against the blue and the size difference among them is just chaotic enough to look well put together. The white frill on the torso is nice as long as the strand of pearls.

Angelic Pretty - Sugary Carnival - EVERY COLOR  @_@

How can you claim to be a sweet lolita and NOT want this print? Okay, seriously though the carnival ponies are adorable, the border around the top and bottom adds a nice touch to the dress and the lace has carnival ponies on it as well.

Angelic Pretty - Melty Chocolate - PinkxBlack

Okay, so there is a ton going on here. The buttons? Chocolate shaped. The lace has a chocolate pattern. And the pattern itself is absolutely delicious looking. And the stripes add a nice contrast to the entire thing.

Innocent World - Rose Basket Angel - Black

The unique neckline, the repeated birdcages, and the rose garlands that hold them up make this one of my dream prints.

Victorian Maiden - Rose Basket - "Framboise"

The cream and pink stripes are to die for on their own. Add in that bordeaux ribbon and the gold detailing and you have a clear winner in my eyes.

Alice and the Pirates - Vampire Requiem - Red

I love seeing brands that I usually consider sweet or classical branch out and do something more bitter. The gate, the castle, and the flying vampires are all incredibly wonderful.

Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Kitten and Room of Sweets - Black

How can you go wrong? You have bows. You have macaroons, cakes, cream, and KITTENS! Kittens sitting on big pink cushions. Kittens strutting past sweets with giant big bows. KITTENS!

Day 21 - Game with the best story.

Now before you  go throwing your own objections around and ask me what could be more boring than a lawyer sim, let me explain. Its impossible to deny that this is incredibly well written and damn hilarious. Its also serious at times and even sometimes touching.

And once again. I've sprained my ankle. So I went to the hospital yesterday and finally got my doctor to refer me to the allergy clinic AND give me a blood test to see what I'm allergic to. The downside of this? I might have fainted after having my blood drawn. My ankle rolled and I re-injured the ankle I sprained about a month ago.

Hurricane Girl

Day 18 - Favorite protagonist.

Link! He's got a lot going for him. He's cute, he's committed to his cause, and come on, how could I deny him this special place in my heart?

Day 19 - Picture of a game setting you wish you lived in.

With so many pretty games, it was hard to choose. Would I want to live in any of the Final Fantasy worlds? Or somewhere 2D like in Marioland? Or how about in the wild west of Red Dead Redemption? Finally, my inner nerd won out. I would want to live in the Star Wars (game) Universe.

Day 20 - Favorite genre.

This one was also a hard tie. I couldn't decide between Action/Adventure or MMORPG. After thinking about it in the shower, I realized that I would rather play MMO's for the rest of my life as opposed to A/A games. With an  MMO, there's so much to do, questing, battlegrounds, dungeons, you name it.

So in real life, not much has been going on. I've been reading a ton still and watching a ton of movies. I went through and watched all the Harry Potter movies again. Yesterday though, I got of my ass and went out with a friend. We went to the mall and while we were there, I was begrudgingly roped in to recording her in the Hurricane machine.
I'll admit, it was more interesting than I thought it would be, but I'm just a spoilsport so it all works out.

I suggest a new strategy, R2.

Day 17 - Favorite antagonist.

What other reason do I need? He blows up planets! Also, really Soul Caliber? Since when are basic swords unable to be broken by lightsabers?!!

So I promised you a big long post right? Well here goes.

This last week has gone by fast. Isn't misery supposed to make time go slower? I suppose reading sappy vampire comfort books (NOT TWICRAP! I SWEAR!) and talking endlessly on the phone to my amazing boyfriend helps. Highlight of the day by the way was posting Star Wars quotes to each other on Facebook...  So I also went with my mom and her friend to go see a church production of Bye Bye Birdie tonight, which was surprisingly enjoyable. I've also been drowning out the miserable me with Season 5 of House and cleaning my room! I've completely organized my closet and drawers! (Except that one that is behind my guitars because I was too lazy to move it.)

As far as not being all depressed goes, I've been playing a bunch of guitar lately, I've learned a bunch of easy songs since I don't feel like a challenge. White Rabbit, Lovesong (The Cure), and Something is Squeezing my Skull. I've also written about 52394732086 new songs. (Really, its been like 5) That's more than I've written in the past few months. Its really surprising how much inspiration comes from hearing your boyfriend tell you he loves you AND being incredibly unhappy at the same time.

So that's all I have in me tonight. I'm going to drink some tea and then read and go to bed. I leave you with this wisdom.

Just a challenge update

I've been having some emotional/family issues lately which is why I haven't posted. I really do apologize. I'll make a big long post tomorrow about something interesting and relevant. I'm just very uninspired right now to do anything other than sit around and be miserable. If anything, this describes EVERYTHING.

Day 12 - A game everyone should play.

What can I say?  Mario is a pop culture phenomenon.

Day 13 - A game you’ve played more than five times.

There's a bunch, but DKC wins. I just enjoy rolling around and jumping around. Not to mention the mine carts.

Day 14 - Current (or most recent) gaming wallpaper.

Believe it or not I've NEVER had a game related wallpaper. I usually have musicians or really artsy shit. Like this.

Day 15 - Post a screenshot from the game you’re playing right now.

Face it. I play WoW.

Day 16 - Game with the best cut scenes.

Yes,  I'm guilty. They're just so PRETTY!
